Hey guys,
I'm wondering if I should send a thank you note and, if so, who I should send it to. Should I simply send one to the admissions office/dean of admissions, or should I also send letters to the doctors who interviewed me as well?

the front desk said i should just send to the admissions office at the email address on the front of the folder they gave us

Did anyone interviewing MSTP next week get a list of interviewers yet?

Did applicants from past MSTP interviews get a list of interviewers ahead of time? If so, how far in advance?

Does the debt-free tuition policy not cover all (prospective) students? If so, what is the cutoff to have full tuition? Thanks!

I wanted to send a post-interview letter of intent (strong ties to the area) and was wondering if anyone could answer the following questions

1. Are they receptive to LOI's?
2. Who do you send it too and when? (should I wait till like February?)
3. Should I include other acceptances?
did you ever find out about this? also wondering the same things

Complete 7/25. Scheduling for early December.

So just to clarify, I saw an earlier post saying it would likely be easy to get a student host. Can anyone speak to the validity of that for this cycle? Also if it is an option, how do you go about it for this school?

quite easy! just email the admissions office asking if they have any availability for student hosting

Still haven’t gotten it and I interview maybe 3 weeks ago. Does it affect you if you don’t do surveys for schools? I’ve been putting off Columbia’s for forever
kk thnx. haha no it has no effect on admissions, you can just ignore the email if you really want to.

II, complete: 8/17. Has anyone else not received a confirmation email in 1 biz day? Did you follow up after a few days or wait. Also, do most ppl typically get their first preference of interview days?
I would wait, it took almost 48 hours to get mine.

For those who've interviewed here already--did anyone NOT fill out their SS number on the financial aid form that was given out at the beginning of interview day? I didn't have my SSN on me at the time and so I couldn't fill it in. I totally forgot about the form and just now, a few weeks later, came across it again.

I'm not sure how necessary this form is to the admissions process, so I'm debating if I should follow up with admissions (at the risk of looking like a disorganised fool 😵) or just wait to see if they reach out...

I'd just call and ask if they still need it, tbh

The form isn't used for admission purposes to my knowledge, it's so you can get your financial aid info as soon as possible so you aren't waiting for it at the last minute come April.
They can give you a financial aid package just by your SSN?

Do the schools provide you with a financial package indicator before an admission in March?

Recently interviewed here and found the staff to be pretty fake…anyone else get that vibe? Also, according to multiple students, no one goes to class and most of the lectures are nearly empty. I was pretty surprised to hear this from a supposedly top tier school. Definitely reconsidering where this school falls on my list…

I haven't gotten an II here but my friend who did last year said this was his least favorite interview day.

But also, I don't think that class attendance should be correlated with the quality of education at school. People may just prefer streaming lectures and staying at home.

Most schools don’t have mandatory lectures.

On the other hand, I would like to say that when I interviewed three years ago, I thought it had the best atmosphere and vibe, and I am comparing it to other top California schools as a person who loves California. It was very laidback compared to other places, extremely generous on academics regarding P/NP and failing, and it’s in Manhattan. Also yes, it is not unusual to have low attendance for med school lectures. People study from home/listen to podcast.

Classes should be empty imo if the lectures are optional and well recorded. That isn’t worrisome at all. I will say that my interviewers were not my favorite and gave me a “fake” vibe. But everyone else actually a part of the school was amazing and so kind. This will semi out me but the admission staff was so kind that they personally mapped out the best way to get to the airport so that I would make my flight. i wouldn’t knock the school down your list until you 1. Get in and 2. Go to second look.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by “fake”? Also I believe any school that has recorded and non require lectures has very low attendance haha

What staff seemed to be fake? The diversity ladies who spoke to us were like sweet grandmas... that didn't seem fake to me. If anything I think the dean might get tired and bored of doing the same Q&As like 50 times

FWIW I did not have anything negative to say after the interview day, I loved the school. I couldn't get over how kind, funny, and down-to-earth all of the staff and students were, especially considering the school's location. Every student was raving about the program and how much fun they all had together outside of class.
