II invite! Complete 7/8, OOS, LM 74.5, Wars 92

Edit to the data:

I did not receive a confirmation but I DID receive and interview just now.

Sorry people who did receive a confirmation email, looks like you are SOL.
Bae's mother was visiting. To be a good "future son-in-law" I took us to Noodlehead. I then attempted to show off by ordering a 5. Bae's mother left disappointed in me *I was on the toilet for a good hour after dinner lol

I love spicy food, so I am so. excited. for this.

Based on the current presented data, you should receive an interview invite about an hour and a half after posting this. Source: Just happened to me.

Oh I wish!!! Will update if that does happen 😵

went on a date there a few years back. Girl got a 5 and was unfazed. I was shook

I refuse to believe that they reviewed and rejected me within the minute of submitting like wtf. But for those who got the complete email days after submitting I’m sorry

PURE UNEVIDENCED TIN-FOIL HAT SPECULATION OUT OF BOREDOM AT WORK (so don't read if you're gonna be triggered) - perhaps the immediate complete email is the automatic system putting applications in the "maybe" pile based on point values given by metrics, hours, etc. It wouldn't be too hard to make an algorithm for that. If you pass that screen, your app gets moved onto a pile for manual review. The later complete email is an actual adcom moving your app to a "maybe" pile.

This is fun.

Edit: I am VERY confident this is the method used by some schools that screen secondaries, or schools that don't screen secondaries but need to thin their numbers after collecting your $

And then albert einstein clapped....
I would know, I was there, I was the maybe pile.

Alright, 1st author publication here I come!!!
Almost as prestigious as my SDN pub:

"M, Lizzy et. al. (2019, March 13). The Rigors of the Medical School Admissions Process: A Comparative Analysis of the Competitiveness of Jesus; Student Doctor Network: PreMed Forum. 286(1): 13-29. doi:John 3:16"

So, the II email says to ensure travel time is after 6 PM, but the latest flight out is at 538 PM.....Y'all think it is doable....?

So, I did not see anything about the PSTP program across this thread yet and I had a few questions if anyone knows anything:

1) What is the additional time commitment beyond the research year?
2) I do not graduate until June 16th but the program starts June 1st...Am I eligible?
3) Anything else to know?

If anyone is interested:

PSTP Prompts are as follows

Awards/Honors: (Type, date/year) *

Hobbies and Extracurricular Activities (4 sentences or less): *

Oral/Poster Presentations: (Authors, Title, Date, Event, location-- specify if oral or poster) *

Journal Publications: (Authors, title, journal, date) *

Abstracts: (Authors, Title, Event/Journal, Date, Location) *

List your Current and Previous Research Experiences. (Position, Lab, location, and duration) For each experience, concisely describe the project, hypothesis, significance, and your role. *

What are your career goals and how do you see PSTP training furthering these objectives? (<300 words) *

Please identify a University of Pittsburgh faculty member whose research interests you. Why would you like to work with this individual? (see preapproved faculty list on the program website for ideas, but note that faculty not on this list can be approved to work with PSTP students if they have previous successful experience in training graduate or medical students)

To complete the application process, we require students to provide names and email addresses of two faculty or research mentors who will submit recommendation letters that discuss your potential as a physician scientist. You may request letters of recommendation from the same individuals who wrote letters for your general UPSOM application, but the letters must be submitted separately through the PSTP application system.

There will be an info session for PTSP at the interview and recommend you wait until after that to apply, if you are still interested.

Any speculation on the external validity of the correlation between complete emails and IIs? Recently submitted a secondary elsewhere and have not received a complete email 🤔

I just want to chime in and say that I never got a complete email.

I submitted the secondary 7/8 but letters of rec didn't come until like 7/20. I better get an interview 😡

(in all seriousness a very cursory glance of the last pages suggests that this might just be due to our submission date haha... so is there anybody who submitted 7/8 and received a complete email?)

I don’t think there was a single comment who received an II AND complete email. I may be wrong but I did a browse of this and last year’s threads and came up with the crazy conspiracy theory.

There seems to be three types of applicants. Those who don’t receive a complete email, those who do receive one days after submitting, and those that receive one wiring minutes of submitting. We will get to the bottom of this Pitt and you will rue the day we do!

And the working theory is that the latter two are rejects, but the former is passed onto further consideration?
