March 9th was the last interview date available on the calendar. Unless they plan on opening that following Wednesday down the line, that will most likely be the last day for interviews.
 
if we are interviewing Feb/March does that mean its mostly for WL spots or is there a realistic chance of an A?
 
What are some questions that would be good to ask for the Maine track interview? I couldn’t find much information on second year teachers. Any other gaps I should ask about?

If you would be willing, could you ask whether the 1st year Cardiovascular classes in the spring(taken in Maine), and 2nd year classes will be recorded, whether attendance is mandatory, and if our exams will be the same as the students in Boston? To me, it seemed like they prematurely made the arrangement to bring students to Maine for pre-clinical work a year earlier(previously 1st and 2nd year was done in Boston) without having the proper resources. For example, there is no library other than a very small one at Maine Medical Center when I think most classes would be taken a 10min drive away at the Brighton Campus. Another issue is the fact that for the first year we would probably have to sign 1 year leases in Boston and then also find a place in Maine in the Spring (May& June) in order to take Cardiovascular.

You could theoretically pick all your rotations at Tufts but there are tons of other sites and some of them are about a 20-30 minute drive. Not to mention you will need to get to your site very early in the morning (especially surgery). So even if the T does go to your site, it will not be running at the time you will need to catch it to be on time.

Very informative thank you. Will they allow you to replace the twin bed with a queen bed and frame, if there is even enough space to do so?

There is a realistic chance to be accepted at any interview date.

Basically, Tufts will either accept, reject or defer you at the beginning of the next month after your interview. The deferral list eventually becomes the waitlist if you don’t make it off before the last meeting.

Applicants are scored after each interview and assigned a point value that determines one of the three outcomes. If you meet the cut off you get the A. Point cut offs can likely be lowered after the last interview month to determine which deferred applicants get in and which will be placed on the WL. Tufts also has had decent WL movement in the past according to some of my M1/M2/M3 friends.

If you apply to live in Posner and get in, your lease would run only for the duration of the school year. Just something to consider!

Also, I know of some (albeit few) leases that also follow this 9 month trend in the surrounding area.
 
I was looking at places around boston thats within a 30 min commute via T to tufts. I know you pay for the convenience of hopping outta bed and being right by the campus with Posner, but looking at the apartments a bit further out, I feel like I can get the rent down to about 700-800 a month by having 3-4 ppl in a 2b2b. Tufts is crazy expensive so Im trying to cut down the CoA as much as I can hahaha

Can any current students weigh in on the feasibility of this? I've lived with roommates all throughout undergrad, but idk if med school will be any different with the dynamic of roommates and such.
 
when do accepted student apply for Dorm? Do all students get Dorm? Is it lottery system?

Sorry, I'm not following your thinking. Are you saying this because there is a summer class required with Maine Track or Boston track for MD?

Thanks! From what I have heard at least Posner is very dormy and people seem to really regret living there.

Jamaica plain is a great option for more affordable housing and is super convenient in terms of placement at the Forest Hills stop on the orange line. Just keep in mind the commute and having to buy a monthly T pass ($55 with student discount).

I don’t know who you’re speaking with but I currently live here and our floor definitely has a good time. I’d say we’re probably the more social bunch of the building.
 
Just got letter in the mail from tufts-MMC. Second look for Maine track will be the evening of Thursday, April 16. In letter it said more details to follow in late winter

II think it's all dependent on when the committee meets. At my interview date, they told us that the committee's next meeting was at the end of January so we may be hearing from the committee late January or early February.

My interview was right after yours and they told us we would hear in early Feb, so since you've been accepted I'm thinking that adcom meeting already happened. It's weird knowing they've probably made a decision on my application already and I'm just waiting for them to tell me :/ I guess we'll see over the next few days, good luck everyone!

Which date? I still see 3/4 and 3/9 available, but those spots have been open since the beginning of the year. I think they're still open because people have been cancelling and rescheduling to earlier dates, but it doesn't look like there's been a new wave of IIs.

Yes, there have been a ton of them! Last year, Tufts interviewed about 7.5% of applicants and accepted 62% of those interviewees-- it's a decent post-II acceptance rate but there's a good reason they're known to be a low-yield school pre-II. Compare that to UMass which interviews about 24% of all applicants, combined in-state and out of state.

But to your question, if you look back through this thread, you'll find several large waves of rejections pre-II.

Ohh gotcha, that's deff possible. Why do you think ppl are cancelling and rescheduling (as opposed to just cancelling)? I see 3/4 and 3/9 too but earlier this week only 2/26 and 3/4 were open

Sorry I wasn't really clear! What I meant is that as people cancel, earlier dates open up, so people scheduled in March are moving their interviews back to those earlier dates. For example, 2/26 was open earlier this week, but what could have happened was that someone from 3/9 rescheduled to 2/26, so the opening on 3/9 probably isn't more than a handful of spots and could even just be one.

When I got my interview in December, the only available dates were 3/4 and 3/9, but I kept an eye on the portal and rescheduled to January when a date opened up, I think there's a good chance that other applicants are trying to do the same thing.

I remember them mentioning early February as well, good luck to everyone who interviewed in January!
