If you flew into JFK, take the air train to Jamaica Station and then take LIRR from Jamaica to Stony Brook. This brings you to the undergraduate campus and you can walk across to the medical school. The commute times can be somewhat limiting. I know some people ended up renting a car, but as long as you plan in advance you can commute.

This is going to be your best bet unless you are willing to shell out a lot of money for a car rental or Uber/cab.

To add on to this, however, once you're at the Stony Brook station there is a school-sponsored free shuttle that will save you 15-20 minutes of walking.

I know it's early, but some schools send it in Dec, while others send it in late April (!)

You can't declare in state residency if the primary reason for your move to the state is medical school. You'd be OOS all 4 years.

Every state school I’ve been to has said their admin office helps you change residency after one year

It is super easy apparently. You just live off campus for a year in an apartment, and you will have it for the next 3

Heavily dependent on how they schedule you. Some people are out at 1, some people are out at 3. You could get your interviews back to back or you could have 2+ hours between them.
